ISPCA Launches Celebrity Christmas Card Campaign

The ISPCA (The Irish Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) is to launch a Celebrity Christmas Card Campaign featuring well-known Irish men and women and their pets.

Every year in Ireland, a large number of pets are bought as Christmas presents and then abandoned a few days or weeks later, when people realise the amount of care and attention they need.

The series of Christmas cards feature well-known Irish men and women and their pets, including TV3 weatherman John Murphy and his golden retriever Rex and newsreader Anne Foyle and her Persian cat; whom all gave their services for free.

Sharon Owen, spokesperson for the ISPCA disclosed: “The Christmas card market is a very big competitive one but we’re confident our cards will sell. We’ve chosen celebrities who people can relate to and we’re hoping to attract the attention of animal-lovers across the country”.

The cards cost €5 for a pack and they will be available in all major retail stores from Saturday 24th November. For further information on the campaign log on to www.ispca.ie or telephone 01-12345678 between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Search Engine Optimisation

Search Engine Statistics
Every businesses primary objective is to get as much information about their product and sevices to their target market whilst obtaining as much PR as possible as cheaply as possible. Search Engine Optimisation allows businesses all over the world to achieve this goal. However there is severe competition within the Search Engine Market as every business wants to win first position on a search engine search. The reason for this is,statistics show that most of us tend to click into one of the first three sites on the results page of our search and therefore a business must identify target keyphrases, include keyphrases in the page and get links to their site in order to be in with a chance of nabbing that No1 position. A business such as Ryanair must be able to predict what their costumer would search for. Google has hi-tech equipment which can retrieve statistical results on what customers type into a search engine search bar which business such as Ryanair could request. A business should ensure it includes keyphrases on its webpage in places like it's title page, headings, regular text, bold text. A business should also try to get links to their site as this will make your page more reputable.Business analyse the results of carrying out all these tips frequently in a hope to appear at the toip of a google search one day.

Virtual Communities

A virtual community is defined as a, gathering place for people and businesses that do not have a physical existence. There are many different virtual communities which exist on the internet such as blogs, instant messaging systems . I feel people who participate in Virtual Communities such as "Second Life" are using this internet phenomenon as a way to escape the world they live in. However I myself am a member of a virtual community as i am a member of bebo, I use this virtual community to remain in contact with my friends and family not to escape the world around me. I do believe a virtual community is a very smart and unique way to promote your business and gain more recognition by your target market as it allows you to get customer feedback that you can use to your advantage.

The Sex Industry in Ireland

Prostitution in Ireland has been around since the 19th and early 20th century when Dublin was awash with brothels and reputedly the largest red light district in Europe.Although prostitution itself is not an offence under Irish law, the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences) Act of 1993 prohibits soliciting or importuning another person in a street or public place for the purpose of prostitution (This offence applies to prostitute and client.). The minimum legal age for a prostitute in Ireland is eighteen and child prostitution Legislation exists to protect persons under this age. When drugs hit Ireland in the 1980s, drug addicted prostitutes and low-level pimps became a feature of the streets, and the prostitutes who weren’t on drugs and the customers started moving indoors rapidly. I read that a man kicked and punched a woman he bought when she tried to stop him taking photographs of her lying naked in a Dublin hotel room. When she tried to take the camera off him, she was thrown against the wall, punched in the face several times and kicked. This clearly dangerous and sick world has, in recent years, become very popular on the internet. Child pornography and abuse have soared due this fact and I feel that this industry is out of control. The sex industry is undoubtedly a dangerous one and should be ended at once.

God I Crack Myself Up Sometimes...

Johnny&his Father
One day Johnny's father decided to go and visit his neighbours-who had recently had a little baby boy. Johnny really wanted to go too, but his father was reluctant to let him because Johnny is a very spoken boy who lacks tact and his father was afraid he would offend their neighbours as he knew the their baby was born with only one ear!!!However Johnny wouldn't stop nagging him, so finally Johnny's father agreed to let him go, but not before he told him about the babies lack of ear and warned him not to offend their neighbours. Johnny agreed so off they went next door on their visit. When Johnny and his father arrived at their neighbours house Mary(the babies mother) opened the door and welcomed them into her sitting room. Johnny's face lit up as he played with the baby the whole visit, not once mentioning the babies lack of ear, his father was so proud of him and decided that he'd get him a treat when they get home for being such a good boy. Anyway, it was time to go but just before they left, Johnny said to Mary, "God, your baby has lovely eyes...they're really nice...can he see alright with those eyes and all??" and Mary replied "O God yes, he's got great eyesight...really really good eyesight!!!" and Johnny replied "Ach well that's good because he'd be fucked if he had to get glasses!!!"

The DKIT Windmill

DKIT Windmill is amazing...I look out my window at it daily watching it intently as it rotates.
Here are some interesting facts about the DKIT windmill:
  • I can see it right now
  • It has three spikes
  • It spins around
  • Its creepy sometimes when it stops-that scares me:(
  • Sometimes it makes our TV go funny
  • Some days its very very fast and other days it is very very slow
  • It's windmillish

Overall I love the DKIT windmill...it is the highlight of my life

I LOVE YOU WINDMILL...DON'T YOU EVER DIE!!

The Monday Blues

What is it with Mondays?? Why are Mondays the hardest day of the week to get through?? Why can’t it be Wednesday, Thursday or Friday?? Today has to be the worst day ever!! Now don’t get me wrong, nothing went majorly wrong for me...however nothing went majorly right either!!! It all really started to go wrong yesterday, at work, when my boss asked me to work the 12-10 shift instead of my 4 hour 12-5 one which I was roistered for!!!(however this appeal was not issued until he was certain I had been talking to my work colleague Katie who disclosed, that my boss had actually threatened to fire her for refusing to work this very same 9 hour shift-twisted prick!!). I reluctantly agreed to work these extra hours, even though I knew I had to catch the 7 O clock bus to Dundalk!! Due to this incredibly horrible event it meant I had to get up at 6am this morning in order to get a lift up to Dundalk with my Dad (who was thrilled to have been given this chore). When I finally reached Dundalk I went to my 9 O clock lecture-it was fun!!(NOT). Then I had a 2 hour break which I was planning on catching some Zzzzz’s in, until my so called pal Gillian text me and asked me what the layout of a press release was for our exam this evening...of course I hadn’t a clue...and so I ended up studying that!!!(not a happy camper) Then I went to my Graphic Design lecture (no more needs to be said I believe). Straight after that I went to my Online PR lecture where I was reminded that I had to have 5 blogs written by Tuesday evening (which equals more fun for aoife!!) Then I had my exam, which went pretty well considering I had forgotten about it!!! And now I’m writing this...with a million and one other chores that need to be done...so bye.
